Was founded in 1979 and is a collection of 50 business and community leaders from North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale that give thier time, treasure, and talent as part of their commitment to Rotary.

• We mentor Tartan High School students through the STRIVE Program.
• We give dictionaries to all 3rd graders in District 622.
• We host a Christmas dinner for many seniors that may not have one otherwise.
• We award two—$3000 scholarships to graduating seniors from our four local high schools.
• We recognize 4 students and their parents from each of our four local high schools through the Student of the Year Program.
• We send two high school students to Camp RYLA—Rotary's Leadership Program.
• We deliver over 1,000 meals through the Meals on Wheels Program.

• We sponsor high school International Youth Exchange Students. We currently are hosting Elise from France.
• Polio Eradication—Our club joined Rotary International with the goal of declaring the World free of Polio. Presently, three countries remain before reaching this important goal.
• Nicaraguan "Fast for Hope"—local Rotary Clubs together support a community in this country helping them with special needs that improve the lives of their citizens.
• Vietnam Library—Our club financially supports a floating library that reaches out to children throughout the country.
• Tanzania Water Wells—Thanks to a wonderful partnership between our club and other local non-profit organizations, we have been able to place over 100 fresh water wells in Tanzania.

Sporting Clay Shoot

Each year community-minded citizens and businesses with a love for sports, the outdoors, or hunting come together for a sporting clay shoot to support the community work of the Rotary Club of North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale. Without the support of the community for this event, the club's sole fund-raiser, most of its community projects would not be possible. Set in the beautiful woods and fields of the Wild Wings Hunting Club in Hugo, the event regularly draws

20-plus teams of 5 shooters each. The Rotary Club raises in excess of $35,000 at the event, 100 percent of which goes to fund the club's annual programs. The day unfolds with a hearty lunch during registration at noon, and the shoot begins at 1 p.m. Afterward, shooters enjoy hors d'oeuvres and refreshments at 3:30 p.m. during the live auction and raffle.

Everyone who participates will receive a memento of the day, and prize-winning opportunities abound.

A Toast to Rotary

Our Spring fundraiser. An upscale yet casual event with food sampling from area restaurants, plus wine and beer sampling, a silent auction and entertainment. Set at St. Peter's Church, O'Reilley Hall in North St. Paul.

Procedes benefit a wide variety of local and internation al programs.

• Our local Rotary Club, founded in 1979, is part of Rotary International and has about 50 members, ranging from doctors and bankers to architects and educators.
• In a typical year, the North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale Rotary Club and its foundation spend more than $70,000 to improve lives locally and globally.
• Rotarians give their own time, treasure, and talent as part of their commitment to Rotary.
• Rotary was founded in 1905. Rotary has 1.2 million members in 32,000 clubs throughout 200 countries worldwide. Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders dedicated to providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and helping build goodwill and peace around the world.
• Our Rotary Club founded and continues to support the North St. Paul Foodshelf.

Before polio eradication efforts began a few decades ago, polio paralyzed 1,000 children a day and 350,000 a year. Rotary took the challenge of helping solve this worldwide tragedy in 1979.

Globally, Rotary has contributed more than $600 million toward eradicating the crippling disease. Locally, Rotary Clubs recently banded together to raise an additional $80 million, and the Rotary Club of North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale committed $10,000 over three recent years for the project.

Today there are less than 1500 cases of Polio per year thanks to Rotary. We will keep working eliminate Polio completely.

Water is the foundation for life, and access to a reliable source of safe, clean water is key for good health, proper hygiene, and sanitation. A ready water supply allows for increased food production, education, and economic independence. Over 44% of Tanzanians derive their daily water supply from polluted sources which often is transported miles on the heads of women and children.

Our Rotary Club has long recognized this and has financially assisted in developing or repairing over 100 wells in the central Tanzania area since 2002. In recent years, Rotarians were instrumental in purchasing a deep well drilling rig at the cost of more than $22,000. Our Rotary Club continues to support St. Paul Partners. This non-profit organization supplies wells and water systems for villages, secondary schools, orphanages, and dispensaries in Iringa, Tanzania.

Rotary continues to supply funding for villages to learn proper hygiene and sanitation to insure their water wells will not become contaminated.

This is another way Rotary improves lives both locally and globally.
